Quickest Cure for Frustration

Today I was irritable and gaining speed towards angry as I cleaned my house.  My children, try as they might, would not help with the simple task of putting away their toys.  J kept loosing focus to his legos. (I can hear your awe of surprise.)

I started to count backwards from 10 as I, myself, sorted toys into buckets when J handed me what he had been so diligently working on.

J: Its a cleaning robot!  Well, it doesn't actually clean, but it will help you smile when you are frustrated!

How could I do anything but.

Quick Bedtime Songs

So little A loves to sing, and twice a week she learns new songs at school from the music teacher.  Today's new song, "You are my Sunshine".  So we had to sing "You are my Sunshine" about five times at bedtime tonight.  Finally I said it was time for bed.

A: Three more songs.
Me: One more song.
Thinking, thinking, thinking.....

A: Okay, but we are going to sing "Old MacDonald" and sing it with ALL the animals!

Return to the blog o sphere

Every so often my husband asks, "Why don't you blog anymore?"

Well, let's hope that this return to blogging will last a bit longer.  I have a few months loaded up with quips and funny moments, so I will try to dig them out of my brain (which is a bit mushy in my 5th month of pregnancy).

Love Letter from my son

Recently I had a weekend away from my kiddos.  It was as difficult as it was wonderful.  I certainly missed them, but all of that was remedied with one piece of construction paper.  J sent me along with a love note.  For those of you that know him well, this is the highest expression of love for him.  Enjoy!

Mommy, I love you more than Luke loves Leia.

You're Simon

J and his father built a cross in the backyard one weekend.  Of course, J immediately got out his markers and drew a Jesus on the cross.  He then proceeded to pick up the cross to carry it across the yard. While carrying his cross, he yelled to his father,

J: Dad, I'm Jesus and your Simon. Come help me carry this thing.

After a minute and after having fallen down, J called out to his father (who had still not joined him),

J: I have to fall down three times, so come help me carry this!

Kindergarten 101: Rhyming words

Trying to get J to eat some eggs for breakfast this past weekend I tried telling him, "Trying new things is a part of growing up." Mumbled in response...

J: Its a part of throwing up.
